What Can Be Placed Inside the Waste Containers for Disposal?
 

In the sharps containers, sharps and infectious waste can go inside the biohazard containers. Sharps include needles, lancets (fingerstick devices), syringes, auto-injectors, scalpel blades, pipettes, and discarded glass or rigid vials containing infectious agents.

In the 18-gallon or 28-gallon containers, only sealed sharps containers can go inside (no loose sharps).

​

In the yellow trace chemotherapy containers, only place gloves, gowns, needles, and IV treatment bags with trace amounts of chemo waste.

What Cannot Be Placed Inside the Waste Containers for Disposal?
 

Do not place hazardous waste, pharmaceutical waste, free liquid, or heavy metal objects inside the biohazard containers. Do not place full bags of chemo or infusion pumps inside the yellow trace chemotherapy containers.
